Bonnie Zabytko (US2005023013) ============================================================ “A single drop of blood is worth more than all the water in the pond.” – Vietnamese Proverb ============================================================ GIRL SURVIVES AUTO COLLISION (JANUARY 12, 1985) TAMPA - Police responded to an early a.m. 911 call and found the twisted remains of a late model Toyota Corolla off of the I-4 interchange. The cause of the accident is still under police investigation. Paramedics at the scene declared that the driver and his wife did not survive the accident. Miraculously the deceased couple’s five-year-old daughter survived. She was rushed to St. Joseph’s for further treatment and is said to be in critical condition. ============================================================ Cass awoke from her coma after her second week in the hospital. When questioned about the accident all the police could get out of her was incoherent babblings of monsters attacking the car. The cause of the accident still baffles the police department. The vehicle looked like it was tossed and rolled around in a demolition derby but no damage to the roadway was ever discovered. Hospital staff began to notice her odd behavior almost immediately. She would hold conversations with non-existent people and have violent fits followed by incoherent babblings similar to her police interviews. When she was healthy enough to be released she was then sent to a private clinic in Town and Country at the request of her social worker. No living relatives could be found. Clinical records showed a deeply disturbed child with an immensely emotionally scarred individual. She often referred to her past relatives in the present tense as if they were still alive and visiting her on a regular basis. Violent epileptic episodes occurred followed by even more violent screaming. Chronic insomnia and followed by night terrors when sleep finally occurred. Sedation was the preferred treatment for most of her childhood. Dr. Van Aelst took over her care when she turned ten and his records of her treatment from that age 'til present are classified. Dr. Van Aelst discovered that her episodes and night terrors were actually a manifestation of precognitive abilities. It is still unknown if she can actually speak to the deceased but Cass believes that this is true and continues to interact with them even though her physicians can find not actual valid proof of this. Two years prior to her entering Kindred society she was embraced in an experiment gone awry. Because of the trauma she experienced during her embrace, her memories were suppressed and she not only lost the knowledge of who sired her, she lost good chunk of her memories of that year. Dr. Van Aelst kept her barely 'alive' and hidden from both mortal and kindred alike for two years until Luke Blackwelder discovered her. During those two years the Dr. discovered that her precognitive abilities were sharper. He could sometimes trigger these visions with varying results. Cass still experiences the recurring nightmarish dreams of her youth but never remembers them upon awakening. Upon leaving the relative safety and sanctuary of the clinic, she must now learn how to survive in a world of mortals that does not believe she exists as well as within the community of kindred who do not truly know or understand what a dangerous and unstable creature a true precognitive vampire can be. | ||||
